2007 Fall Workshop

Our topic "Diversity, Change, and Community Leadership" for the Year 2 Fall Workshop in Morton, WA led us to discussions about changes in both rural and urban communities over the last 100 years.  Additionally, participating teachers brainstormed ideas for Year 2 Projects, incorporating oral histories, tribal education, or community action.

Saturday, November 3, Field Trips

The Cowlitz Valley Historical Society

The group toured visited the local history museum and the Morton Train Depot, which are both run by the Cowlitz Valley Historical Society.

 

The Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad

Teachers spoke with local historian Jesse Clark McAbee, author of Rails to Paradise - A History of the Tacoma-Eastern Railroad Co. 1890-1919, and received a tour of the rail yard from Operations Manager Brian Wise.
